What is the Hill City Boys & Girls Club?
Formerly the Hill City Youth Center, the club was formed so kids would have something to do after school.
Approximately 80 kids stop by at the club a day, and it serves as a safe place where parents know their kids can go after school and they don’t have to worry.
What can kids do at the Hill City Boys & Girls Club?
Kids can get a snack, participate in activities, do their homework and hang out with their friends. Crafts activities and higher learning activities are offered until parents can pick up their kids or kids can stay until they want to go home.
Are there any programs offered?
The club has a preschool that’s open all day. There’s also a program called Smart Moves, which is a program for kids to make good choices in life.
Other programs include:
- Positive Action – For kids to understand how doing positive things and making positive moves in their life will bring back positive effects for their future. So making positive choices will be leading to a positive life
- Road Code – For driving safe like how to be a good passenger, how to look beyond what is just general driving skills like seeing a green light and wondering how long it’s been green and if it’s going to turn yellow and being a safe distance from the people in front and behind you
When is the club open?
During the school year:
- 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
During the summer:
- 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Does it cost anything?
It’s $25 for the entire school year. During the summer, it’s $25 a month. With that $25, breakfast, lunch and two snacks are included.
